2.2 The Promotion is not open to employees of Borough Broth, its agencies or anyone professionally connected with the Promotion, the judges, or their immediate families or household members.

2.3 We may ask the winner for proof of age, identity and residency. If this is not provided within the necessary timeframe, the prize may be withheld and awarded to another entrant under clause 7.2.

3. Promotion period

3.1 The Promotion opens at 16:00 GMT on 5 November 2026 and closes at 23:00 GMT on 3 December 2026 ("the Closing Date"). Entries received outside this period will not be accepted.

4. How to enter

4.1 No purchase is necessary. To enter, describe your gravy crime using one of the following routes:

  • (a) Voicemail: call 0330 223 8411 and leave a message, including your first name and the details of the gravy crime you are reporting. If your number is withheld, please also leave a contact number, or we may not be able to contact you if you win. Calls cost the same as calls to a standard landline number and are included in most call packages; please check with your provider. Calls are not answered live. We will only review the first 60 seconds of your report.
  • (b) Email: email gravywatch@boroughbroth.co.uk with the subject line "Gravy Crime", describing your gravy crime and including your first name and a contact phone number. Entry by email is free.

4.2 Both entry routes are treated equally and have the same chance of winning. Email entries should be around 150 words.

4.3 One entry per person. If we receive more than one entry from the same person, only the first valid entry received will count.

4.4 Entries must be the entrant's own original work and must not be offensive, discriminatory, defamatory or unlawful, or infringe anyone else's rights. If an entry names or identifies another person or business, we will remove those details from any content we publish. We may disqualify any entry that breaches this clause.

4.5 We are not responsible for entries that are lost, delayed, incomplete or not received for technical reasons. Proof of sending is not proof of receipt.

4.6 Entries made by automated means, bulk entry or through third parties will be void.

5. The prize

5.1 There is one prize of £1,000, paid by bank transfer to a UK bank account in the winner's name within 30 days of the Closing Date, or within 30 days of an alternative winner being confirmed if clause 7.2 applies.

5.2 The prize is non-transferable, and no alternative is available.

6. Selecting the winner

6.1 This is a judged competition. The winner will be the entry that, in the judges' sole opinion, describes the worst gravy crime.

6.2 After the Closing Date, entries will be checked for eligibility in accordance with these Terms. Valid entries will then be shortlisted by the Borough Broth marketing team against the criterion in clause 6.1. An independent judge will have access to all valid entries and may add any entry to the shortlist.

6.3 The shortlisted entries will be judged by a panel of three judges, including at least one judge who is independent of Borough Broth and its agencies, by 10 December 2026. Any judge who knows an entrant will not score that entry.

6.4 In the event of a tie, the independent judge will have the casting vote. The judges' decision is final.

6.5 Whether or not an entrant agrees to their entry being used in our content (clause 9) will not affect whether they are shortlisted or win.

6.6 A record of the shortlisting and judging process, including scores, will be kept by us for a reasonable period post-closing.

7. Winner notification

7.1 The winner will be contacted by 12 December 2026 using the phone number they called from, the number they left in their message, or the email address they entered with.

7.2 The winner must respond within 7 days. If they do not, or cannot meet these terms, the prize will be awarded to the next highest-scoring entry.

7.3 We will only contact entrants by email from gravywatch@boroughbroth.co.uk, by phone from 0330 223 8411. We will never ask entrants for payment, passwords or card details. Please report anyone claiming to be Borough Broth through any other channel to gravywatch@boroughbroth.co.uk.

8. Winner announcement

8.1 The winner's surname and county will be available on request by emailing gravywatch@boroughbroth.co.uk for one month after the prize is awarded. The winner may object to their details being shared by contacting us, but we may still need to provide them to the Advertising Standards Authority if asked.

8.2 Any further publicity involving the winner (for example, featuring them in Borough Broth content) will only take place with their separate consent.

9. Use of entries

9.1 As set out in clause 1.3, by submitting an entry, entrants agree that we may contact them and use their entry for promotional purposes in accordance with these Terms.

9.2 Entries will only be used in organic content on our social media channels and will not be used in paid advertising.

9.3 Entries used in content may be anonymised or edited for length, but will not be edited in a way that misrepresents what the entrant said.
